soyoustart negative review

First of all, i know this is a cheap server company, self managed etc. But the the problem is they are not doing what they promised to do. We are using lost of self managed servers from different companies (Hetzner, Serverloft etc.). They serviced what they promised.

SYS (SoYouStart) servers are self managed, so you purchase the server, install os from control panel and that is it. You are responsible for everyting with the server. This is ok, but one thing you can do anything is hardware problems. When we are researching about SYS, on their site (http://www.soyoustart.com/ie/hardware-sla.xml) you can see they are saying that they have a great support for failed hardware. They have 7/24 technicians etc.

I bought a new server and installed os. Everything seems ok but after a while the server began to restart itself. I tried to reinstall the os and also some different os, but server is always restarting itself at random times. When we look at the logs, there is nothing usable because there is a hardware problem. Meanwhile i am receiving some mails from monitoring system saying that server is not responding, the technicians are alerted and they will take care if there is a hardware problem.

I waited 2 days, server is still rebooting itself. Then i create a support ticket (there is no ticket system, there is only a contact form on the web site). After 2 days i received a reply which is asking for some debugging info about the server. I got them and send files. After 4 days i received an answer saying that if they can work on the server. I said this is a trial machine, nothing is important on it, you can work on the server immediately. After 1 week i received an answer, saying that “can we start to work on the server”, i said yes server is ready for you, please take care of the problem as soon as you can. Days gone and today my server is 1 month old and still no solution. I send an email to them telling that i am cancelling the server, no work is required.

As a hosting company we have our technicians and we know the meaning of self managed. SYS is not self managed company and is not a dedicated server company either. I am not asking any software installation questions etc. There is a hardware problem, they are giving me “Guaranteed hardware SLA” on their site and they are also giving 2 hours hardware repair time guarantee, but in real, there is nothing. If they say “we have no support either software or hardware needs” this is ok, no problem. But as my experience they are lying to customers.

By the way i never used OVH but SYS is a company of OVH and now i couldn’t trust OVH too. SYS brings bad reputation for OVH.
